It appears that conscience is the sole provenance of the right at the present time. The left is still in disarray and looking for scape goats. They appear to be unwilling to consider the possibility that the left is at fault for their own demise. The right represents the conservative values of a majority of the American people. The left is stuck in Hait Ashbury, and waiting for the next Kinsey report.

OK well I disagree with that. Rove has marshalled greed, fear, racism, homophobia and evangelical christianity into the Republican camp. Thats the constituency. That's what put them over the top. What conscience is that? More like an evil conjured. The conscience of the Kerry supporters was to beat that back. Many honestly believed that our Constitutional rights would be jeopardized by another Bush term. The signs are obviously there that these are not wild allegations. The 60's civil rights movement, which I think you are ambiguously referring, was the conscience of the time. It was the fight against the entrenched evil of segregation. Which denied the constitution to all citizens. Hmmmm..sound familiar? It is SELF EVIDENT that ALL men are created equal.....
