I have no doubts whatsoever that the US armed forces have very well trained soldiers. I have lots of friends who were ex-Marines and ex-GIs. But I still believe that the top brass took many things for granted with the result that many of the 1117 soldiers that perished died unnecessarily. I don't believe that the US is more united than ever, especially when so many are seeking to leave for other places, and a growing number of people are beginning to doubt the validity of the election results, and already there is speculation that GWB might not finish his term.
