The purpose of of the Constitution is to protect the minority from the majority. If a majority of the population of Alabama thinks blacks are dirty and must not be allowed sit at tables with whites, majority rules? I know you're going to say my previous sentence is nitpicking and taking what you said out of context, but being gay is not a lifestyle - people are born gay or heterosexual. A person's genes determine if that person is gay - or black. I can assure you that little Jennifer isn't going to grow up gay because the neighbor's are gay any more than living among heterosexuals will guarantee that little Jennifer will grow up straight. Dick Cheney can confirm this. Majority rules, not certain narrow factions of a population who prefer unusual lifestyles.
