"Now are you going to lament the passing of the elections? Think of all the lost jobs!" No, I'm NOT... but you make a fair analogy. The temporary jobs produced by our regularly scheduled elections may be compared to the temporary jobs produced by the reconstruction and rebuilding that goes on after natural disasters (like hurricanes) which, although not as regular as scheduled elections... never-the-less are naturally occurring events, just more variable in their timing and effects.
