Amy, There are mainstream Christian religions that advocate violence in their reading material, and then the instructors apparently tell them to ignore that part since it "doesn't apply anymore."

I'm pretty sure that if you pick-n-choose whatever you want, you can twist any religion into one of violence.

I don't know for sure if the core of Islam is "peaceful" or "violent," but I do know that the core of Christianity is peaceful. Yet I see the politically correct establishment trying to portray it otherwise. Don't believe me? Look at the percentage of cases the ACLU pursues against Christianity, versus that pursued against Islam.

Yes, it would be nice if all religions did an overhaul. I'd recommend they pay attention to Budhism for starters. Now there is a religion of peace. Also, I'd trash the Old Testament. It's hopelessly outdated. The teachings of Jesus are more peaceful and still apply today.

Unfortunately for Islam, they based their whole religion on the teachings of one man, Mohammed, who happened to live a violent life and espoused violence as a means to an end. So they will have a hard time excising violence from Islam, unless they cut Mohammed's life out entirely.
