You are SO right. There is a persistent liberal leaning within society which ALWAYS pushes the limits of what is appropriate behavior, what is moral, what is right. The law began, 200 years ago, as a fairly conservative creation. But over time, liberalism has changed the baseline as to what is "conservative".

Today, what is considered conservative would once have been considered liberal. This condition is chronic, and will continue until there are no limits whatsoever. While we may have temporary moves toward conservatism, we never go back to conservative principles of 50 years ago -- it always stops short of that.

Eventually, if we do not somehow limit it, NAMBLA will become mainstream. The tejeks, Als, JFowlers of the world will support it.

On another thread I had an argument about where the FCC should draw line on decency. The argument was posed that there should be no limits. To which I replied, "What if there were no limits? We would have XXX porn on channel 7 at 7pm. Some enterprising soul would find it profitable and would do it. Would THAT be okay?". Amazingly, I received more than one "YES".

My point here is that if you don't have conservatives pushing hard against persistent liberal encroachment, there will always be those who think NAMBLA should be entitled to the rights of any other organization. The liberals have enlisted some sick SOBs (as Michael Moore and Bill Maher prove).

Ted, Standards set 2000 years ago do not necessarily meet the needs of people in the 2lst century.
