You know, thinking more about it, this is something that the "herd" could really get excited about.

"Small 4 Billion $$ company that never could compete with the behemoth Intel is fighting back with a new server processor and now has managed a breakthrough that will allow it to not only address the $8+ billion market of data storage flash, but actually own it!"

Facts and products be damned. When the herd smells a break out story like this, folks on the RIMM board will start saying "Maybe RIMM will do an AMD one day!"

Now that's more like it! Why the need for pessimism? I mean if AMD were currently at $50, there might be a need for a modicum of reservation. But really now, AMD has world leading Opteron and has just announced, not unlike it did with Spry Athy and with Opteron, that it has a world beating holistic (or is it potentially ubiquitous) flash product with virtually unlimited upside revenue potential. Get in the spirit, 'cause you're right about the "herd" thing. Not sure when the stampede occurs, but with all the sniffing currently taking place, I wouldn't think it'll be too much longer now!

This is a HUGE announcement!

Everyone on this board is concentrating too much on processor revenue...what happens if AMD posts $800 million in processor revenue and only $400 million in flash sales...Houston we have a problem!...it means AMD will not hit their $.19 per share mark but would be lucky to break even...AMD is 2006 company when their FAB 36 is fully operational...in the meantime Intel might keep AMD in its place...just a thought as I bought some november puts on AMD just in case they are overcompensating for short term problems...we all saw what happened to cray...be careful!...
