That estimate was before the attack.....how many do you think are still there now.....if they have half a brain they will filter out and return another day....as happened in Samarra..

Actually Fallujah is a city of over 300,000 nearly a ghost town at this point.....the US military estimates 3-5 K fighters including a significant number of foreign fighters..... mytelus.com [Gen. George] Casey said 50 to 70 per cent of the city's 200,000 residents have fled. The numbers are in dispute, however, with some putting the population at 300,000. Residents said about half that number left in October, but many drifted back.

1. The US doesn't know the population of Fallujah. 2. The US doesn't know the makeup or the number of 'insurgents' in Fallujah or anywhere else. 3. The US thought that the war would take 1.5 weeks AND Iraqi oil revenues would pay for everything very quickly AND the US military would be greeted by a fawning populace with flowers and those tiny souvenir American flags. 4. If you believe the US Military, the Shrubbery Garden in the WH or major corporate media then you have more than a screw or two loose...your entire brain has fallen out the back of your head. Just how long are you going to be gullible?
