Scalia is brilliant....so "following his line" is not a bad thing at all.....and I don't find Thomas' opinions mediocre.....Contrary to your view IMO he does add a MOST unique perspective to the Court...that of a conservative black man......Bush could do worse. Frankly, I'd like to see Scalia as CJ but I believe he would be too polarizing....with Rehnquist stepping down, Thomas is the only other reliable conservative on the bench and may be the only logical choice Bush sees.....
