"The problem could come from those companies that don't need mirrorbit flash"

Read the announcement again. AMD is very confident, (and AMD doesn't make such a release unless they are very confident about what they have (again same tenor as the Spry Athy and the Opteron releases) that their road map leads fairly rapidly to a superior price/performing product with ubiquitous potential!)

Hey, it's my perception that AMD's MirrorBit R&D as intimated in the press release has surpassed the "milestone" necessarily in place for AMD to make such a "thunderous" announcement.

I'll be the 1st to admit that I don't know with absolute certainty that AMD will achieve #1 status in the flash world as is their goal based upon their MirrorBit developments to date, but I've followed AMD long enough to sense the huge potential significance of yesterday's release. AMD just doesn't make such a statement unless they a very clear roadmap (which they did delineate) in mind, and a roadmap that has the props already in place to suggest it as reasonably realistic!)

There have been only 2 previous statements by AMD that reek of such huge implications that I am aware of: Spry Athy in June '99 and Opteron in April 2003. We all know how the world of AMD changed after those 2 releases. (PIC, with its 50 in 15 objective may be a 4th, but it hasn't yet provided the data points that MirrorBit already has!)
