This post is not anti US, but it is anti US administration, and anti the blind acceptance of their foreign policy. Going back a couple of posts you complain about Europe exceeding their own deficit plans, but they had the audacity to complain about the apparent devaluation of the US dollar, with no apparent regard to the hurt it will cause others. I shouldn't need to remind you of where the US deficit is right now, but I think your main point is to suggest hypocrisy on the part of Europe, so let's stick with that. Is it hypocritical for the US to impose duties on other countries just to appease their own companies? Softwood lumber is just one example that comes to mind, while at the same time, they protect their steel industry unfairly. Ultimately the US loses in world court and has to rescind the measure, but they drag their feet, causing terrible economic pain to others. Bush finally backed down on helping US steel companies only when threatened with huge tariffs by Europe. Is it hypocritical for the US, through their influence with the IMF and WTO to go into places like Argentina and Bolivia and force them to accept changes that will severely hurt these countries and their people, but ultimately benefit only the US, or perhaps better said, US multinationals? Is it hypocritical for the US to decide which country in the world can have nukes, while at the same time expand their own arsenal, and against the wishes of the world, plan a way to make other nations defenses obsolete? You say that they are sick economies, probably true, but what country appears to be extremely feverish now? What country is the largest debtor nation in the world? I can't believe that you said this: "The French today shot into a crowd. They are below contemptable." Maybe you missed it, but even CNN covered a 500 ton bomb being dropped on a bunch of people. As expected, they said that the decision was up to the spotter, but I watched it when the pilot got the immediate go ahead to do it. He then said "Ooohh dude", much as if he was having orgasm. I watched another video, on the internet at first, months later on TV, where a helicopter had disabled a couple of trucks. Some were still alive, one trying to hide behind a truck. The pilot asked for the go ahead and just shot them when they did not stand a chance. There was no indication of them having any weapons. I read a transcript of soldiers talking about enemy wounded, and how they sometimes let them scream in pain for awhile to scare their friends, but then they would "double tap" them. You and Don Coxe talk about Canadian socialism, like it is evil. The US is the only industrial western nation that does not take care of it's people, rather they prefer corporate socialism. Yet in spite of our country being so socialistic, we have a far more attractive balance sheet. Personally I find that "over the top" arrogance. I read and listen to Don Coxe regularly, enjoy much of what he has to say, but I'm waiting for the proof of two miracles before applying Sainthood to him. We live in an imperfect world where no person or country is without fault, and I personally am distasteful of the arrogance expressed by those who think they are. All I ask Bob, is for you to please exercise a bit of balance, or not post about political issues at all. I admit to a few rants, but they have always been in response to posts such as yours. Now let's let the next four years play out and get onto what we're here for.
