TP, Bush cannot say what he really wants in the middle east. The second agenda cannot be won if the goal cannot be stated.

I think he's been saying it all along. Spreading freedom and democracy in Iraq, which will then carry over to the entire Middle East through example.

What Bush won't say is that we are indeed fighting Islamic fundamentalism. That would be construed as yet another Crusade, especially by the very Muslims that we're trying to win the hearts and minds of. Better to just frame it in the context of spreading freedom, which is no less accurate given how Islamic fundamentalists by their very nature are the antithesis to freedom.
