Yes these are my concerns as well. I don't quite understand why ANO.U chooses to trade in US $.
I just know that they are extremely cheap and have blue sky potential with Kinross and Rio Tinto behind them.

For what it is worth,

According to an analyst from Cannaccord Europe who met with Kazakhstan officials, they are open for business and are very supportive to a new mining project with the west as a partner.

Re: The strength of the $C and ANO.U, it is not really significant to compare a possible 15-20% advance in the $C against a possible 500-1000% in the stock price.

As for Turkey... the country is in very good shape I think.
