I'll give you this (and I always have) you're good in this medium. You can baffle people with BS like few others I've seen on SI. Where you fail is not in knowledge of issues but rather knowledge of people, Ray. Now, allow me to educate you! Somewhere between your studious efforts and book reading you forgot that to "educate" people you also have to be able to relate to and convey a human quality. Sometimes the hammer approach will work but more often than not it will drive people away. You could be the smartest man on the planet (and clearly you believe you are) but unless you can relate to real people on a personal level you will never be successful unless you're working with machines. What a guy like you really needs is a good dose of humility and some behavior modification as it relates to how YOU relate to others. Condescension, labeling and lack of diplomacy toward your fellow hominids will not garner you the results you're hoping for unless your hope is to drive them away.

Except in American politics, where we find that a profoundly incapable breed of fools prefers to identify with a dyslexic ex-alcoholic who pretends to sound like a hick than a pompous windbag who pretends to be a man of the people.

Now that I've put it that way, I'm sure you can understand why all decent thinking Americans are absolutely livid about the devolution of democracy into depravity.

I know many decent and highly educated people who would not agree with the above remark. It may not be what you say but rather how you say it that reduces your intellect from appealing to appalling.

And I'd bet this isn't the first time you've heard this in your life.
