Although most Americans do not realize it, because of America's fiercely pro-Israel press, Israel's only allies on the planet besides the U.S. are South Africa and, um, I'm trying hard to remember the other one but cannot at the moment. Maybe someone can help me here.

Israel is guilty of horrendous human rights violations against the Palestinians since the first Zionist terrorists, who later became Israel's rulers, bombed the King David Hotel in 1946 and committed other atrocities to drive the British out of Palestine.

The Palestinians were living peacefully in the region when the Zionists arrived. They were farming, tending their orchards, sending their children to college (Palestine had a very high rate of higher education compared to the surrounding states). It is a myth that there was hardly anyone there then, and certainly the Palestinians who were forced off their lands and swept into refugee camps had a right to be very angry. We rarely even discuss in America why the Palestinians became terrorists--it was a direct result of Zionist acts of terrorism against them, and then repeated massacres of Palestinians once they were living in the camps.

This post is not written in support of terrorism--it is horrific no matter who commits the acts. I just think people should be aware of the root causes of terrorism in the Middle East, and we can clearly lay the blame on the Zionists.

This is a pretty fair and balanced discussion of terrorism, and refers to the Zionist terrorists who became Israel's leaders:

The British were instrumental in creating Israel in the first place and double crossed the Arabs just to get themselves out of the problem of the Jews.

You may be too young to remember but our relationship during much of Israel's existence was based on Cold War thinking. America took up it's relationship with Israel to balance against the Arab nations who were allied with the Soviet Union and received foreign aid in the form of Soviet arms for their Arab military's. The US aided Israel heavily to balance against the Soviet support of the Arab nations. A lone bulwork of democracy in the ME. Every time Israel beat the Arabs in a war it was the US beating the USSR.

Then the USSR was no more and the justification for such huge support for Israel diminished to a moral issue because Israels existence is no longer of strategic importance to the US. We can deal with Arabs and the oil problem without Israel. In fact Israel gums up the works by creating more problems for the US in dealing with the Arabs to get their oil.

But Israel is there for good. They are a nuclear power and they will not lose a war without going nuclear. The US has to protect Israel in order to avoid the war that would spark a nuclear strike by Israel. That's the always avoided or ignored truth of the whole problem. Either Israel will exist, or no one will exist in that region. It's never discussed that way in the media but that is the truth of the problem.
