"Kerry's word that he would fight smarter?"

He couldn't have done worse. Come on, the same thing happened when we invaded, why would they change tactics all of a sudden?

Not just on Kerry's word, but based on Rumsfeld's and Bush's numerous obvious mistakes over the 4 years of their tenure. Here's a classic example. Right before sending Powell to collect money from the world for Iraqi reconstruction, Bush announces that only countries within the coalition will get the benefits of the reconstruction money, destroying any incentive for non-participating countries like France and Germany to donate money.

That was just plain stupid and represents a case in point of Bush's complete lack of ability when it comes to diplomacy. I agree with only letting members of the coalition of the willing benefitting, but I would have used that as an under the table carrot to get other countries to donate, rather than using it as a club to inflame non-participating countries.

Let's face it, my 6 year old cat is a better diplomat than Bush. BTW, I am known to be a straight out Republican and line up with Republican beliefs straight down the line. However, one thing I can't countenance is incompetence and I know it when I see it.
