Howard Stern: I may be out soon

Shock jock expresses dismay over treatment at Infinity, says an early contract buyout is possible.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Howard Stern, the king of shock radio, complained on his morning program Thursday about his deteriorating relationship with his current employer and said he may leave the broadcaster soon.

"I'm not angry," said Stern after he described how hurt officials at Infinity Broadcasting, the Viacom unit that distributes his talk radio show, appear to be since his blockbuster announcement in October that he will jump to subscription-based satellite radio after his current contract runs out next year.

Stern said he has since been flooded with letters from Viacom lawyers, the details of which were not immediately known.

He added that Sirius could buy out his Infinity contract now. "That might end up happening," said Stern.

Signs of fraying relations between Stern and Infinity come more than a month after Stern said he had cut a five-year, $500 million deal to broadcast his show and pursue other ventures at Sirius Satellite Radio.

The deal value covers all costs associated with Stern & Co.'s show, including salaries and production.
