The VA appointment system is back logged temporarily for two reasons.

One is the new change in VA ID cards. Everyone has to make an appointment to get a new one.

Another reason is CRSC was approved a year ago at 60% and was just lowered to 10%. That means all the military retirees with any level of combat related or hazardous duty related disability have to go to the VA to confirm it and they will get another govt check every month. Many of these folks are being reassessed by the VA Doctors to determine if the disability has worsened and their rating (and monthly payment) should be increased.

This extra one-time workload will be worked off quickly.

I will be applying for CRSC very soon. Thanks for the reminder.

As for your concern about GWB caring for Veterans...I believe four brand new VA Medical Centers have been approved, built and opened since he became President. A 5th, in Las Vegas, was just funded in May and is already underway. Two new VA research facilities have opened in Miami and Boston. A third is underway in NYC. The proposed future cuts in the budget are because the GWB inspired massive upgrade is nearing completion.

Care to tell us how many were built during Clinton's eight years? I don't know of any. The new VA Hospital complex in Pittsburgh was approved in 2001. I believe that was the first in many years.

If you really have an interest, perhaps you should take the DAV magazine and get the VA updates, rather than relying on an obscure internet link to a left wing rag.
