Keith,
I thought the war smart policy. I have been really upset by the operational miscues. But now i dont rule out that this intervention in a hostile arab land, may not have been so wise to undertake without massive forces from the getgo like we had assembled in Gulf War. That wasnt done because Rumsfeld bought into this lighter more mobile force which easily won the war but also failed to win the peace. Now its a mess. For me Falujah result--thru the january election will force me to review my current assumptions. I support our troops 100% and hope for a good election but i have serious doubts that we will succeed. My fallback is the Sun-Mike three state solution. I used to call it the 2 outta 3 aint bad solution to quote a meatloaf song. Sun actually put some meat on this proposal earlier today.
I like you hate the fact that the gloaters may have been right to some degree. Bush and the neocons got us into this mess and they must not become wedded to a failed policy if that occurs after falujah and the elections, for reasons of vanity or false pride. Thats one of the reason i voted for bush. After all its his second term and he has a veep who aint running for pres next time, so i felt he was more likely to do the right thing than kerry who would have been running. Mike
