Some people employ moral arguments, to advance an innocuous agenda that is purely self serving and lacking in any moral foundation. A matter that is simply competition over resources for example. That would certainly be an example of corrupt reasoning and hypocritical behavior.

However, I see nothing wrong or ‘fatuous’ about analyzing the moral merits of an endeavor and positioning one self on the side of right. That is what standing up for justice and liberty is all about.
