I know. I am one. But we must be sensible and not lash out in anger at the first imperfect opportunity.

Arlen Spector has already gone on record warning Bush not to go to far to the right when selecting a nominee for the Supreme Court. He, with other moderate republicans and democrats, can form the basis for a coalition to insure moderates get on the Court. If Democrats get irrational and fight tooth and nail over the AG post our chances of influencing moderate republicans when it comes to court nominees will be damaged.

Remember, Gonzalez will be AG for only a few years. Court appointments are for life and have far more of an impact.

Democrats all over the nation are still in pain over the election, they need someone to step up to the plate, be a leader and show them that we are not a one-party nation.
