It does. I consider myself to be a very spiritual person. It turns out that most (all?) American Buddhists are spiritual good natured tolerant loving crowds. In short, they are the group that I can identify with and would like to have around. Are there such people in other religious groups? Of course, but not as common...and yes, no spiritual belief has ever felt as natural to me as Buddhism. I was a Buddhist way before I read a word of it.

I don't think I share such bond with typical Thai or Korean Buddhists. But that is ok. Buddhism has a certain flexibility about it that allows it to coexist with a wide range of cultures (or religions).
