I heard NT lost out on a big UMTS contract that will be announced next week by the competition...

Rob doesn't do negative. He is head cheerleader.

Seriously, the inability of NT to get its books in order has to be having a negative effect on current and potential customers.

ITM, Wall Street is giving its verdict on the latest disgraceful fiasco by voting with its feet......two day volume will probably be close to 150M.

I wouldn't touch Lucent and its non-cash pension credits as earnings with a ten foot pole. I don't care how much Cramer and Sagawa pump Lucent.

That has been generally known for several weeks now, at least the part about LU and ERICY being the leads. The #3 slot appeared up for grabs between NOK, NT. and Siemens, so looks like Siemens will get it.

While not really news any more, it is still amazing NT, with 4 of the 6 UMTS networks up and running at AT&T Wireless, will not even participate in the Cingular contract. This was a marketing failure.

On the restatement, my take is Nortel is now being forced to go back 2 more years, to 1999. JMHO, of course. On the positive side, it does appear their margins were and are better than they thought in the summer.

I think Owens views this situation a lot like I do. "Why in the hell did I get involved with this!"
