<<California Chief Justice Rose Bird >>

The police think of her as a complete nut.

I don't think he need fear for his life anytime soon.

Not at the hands of the state, I'd be willing to wager.

Since death row inmates are probably confined to their cells 23 hours a day, it's unlikely he'd be done in by any of the other prisoners either.

IMO Peterson's prospects for continuing to breathe would have been much reduced had he been found guilty without aggravating circumstances and was ultimately placed in the general prison population.

California has the death penalty but doesn't actually execute people. Currently (as of July 2004) California has 635 people on death row. This is more than the entire country had as recently as 1980.
Not quite.

However, your chances of dying of natural causes on death row are probably better than a trip to the chamber.

It seems to run 20+ years between sentencing and execution- -if the conviction isn't overturned first.
