Have you ever heard of a subject of study called "history"? That was a fair assessment prior to the end of the Cold War. (Which the West won, much to your disappointment, I'm sure.) During the Cold War the major powers had client states, some of which were Arab and Islamic. One of the things the major powers did was keep thir client states in line- -they had no intention of letting them start a major conflagration over some petty feud of their own. If their was going to be a major conflagration, it was going to ne over petty feuds between the major powers. A 2-bit troublemaker like OBL would have been filled with Kalishnakov slugs long ago. Long before he did anything like 911. Things do change. If you wish to remain mired in the Cold War, that's you're business. The rest of us are moving on. The different, um, migrations in western Europe mostly happened so long ago that everyone has interbred with gusto. Dublin, Ireland is chock full of Irish people with Viking features because of intermarriage, and no one seems that angry anymore. What's THAT got to do with anything? People have been running over other people all through history. I take it your belief is that murder and mayhem doesn't count as long as it was done at least a thousand years ago? It is true that American elementary school textbooks in the past mentioned the Indians, the slaves, etc. Not mentioning them would have been impossible. But they managed to twist the whole thing so the Indians were savages preying on the wonderful white settlers, who came to give American dignity and purpose and a future filled with technological advances. Well, maybe you needed to go to a real school instead of one running by hippies like Waldorf. Mine mentioned manifest destiny, treaties broken by the US gov't in pursuit of it, and that the Indians almost always kept their end of the treaty bargain and the settlers didn't. It did mention technological advances though. How do you propose to feed 6 billion people with 11th century agriculture? Are you going to be one of the ones volunteering to die when it can't be done?
