I don't think they are doing it for him, I'd say, despite him. As you know, the Democrats did their best to blow the small parties away before the election. Indeed, if the small parties can get something moving now they could easily attract a lot of support and make a lot of "noise". Of course, they can't do much more than that -- but agitation also helps (maybe?).

I think the pain should come not from their loss but from the realization that the Democrats were not a true opposition party. In fact, I don't think very much would have changed had they come into power.
