When the crushee starts bitching in public, going over the head of the boss, its an indication that the wheel needs a retread or replacement. And also indicates that a new boss was required. Lots of people will have to decide whether to retire, or go back to work (how cruel). Bosses seldom actually do work, which is left to lower grades. Boeing has gone to using teams, good workers derived from many organizations to do a specific job and report only to a project manager. Then later return to their old group. I think they tried the team approach with Al Queda data but something went wrong when higher-ups tried to protect their turf, did not cooperate, refused to turn over the data. IMO its time to move out some entrenched heads left over from cold war thinking and give the sharp young graduates a chance to perform their own magic. Sig
