Amy J Re...No conspiracy theory about this:
40% or 60% of Fox readers polled actually think Saddam is related to 9/11, even though Bush himself has said Saddam is not. Stunning. This was all over the news.
You say this, as if you believe, the talking points put out by the DNC. The simple truth is that there is a relationship between Saddam, and 9/11, in that the main reason for OBL's jihad against the US, was because of the Gulf war, and its after effects. All you need to do is read OBL speeches from 1998, when OBL declared war on the US.

You will note, in his speech, OBL, gives three main reasons for his jihad. Lets look at them.
First, for over seven years the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors, and turning its bases in the Peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples
The time given is 7 yrs, and since his speech was in 98, the seven yrs, he is referring to is the Gulf war, and the bases the US established in SA, to fight that war. He is not talking about what we did to the Palestinians, as you lefties like to claim, but rather what we did to counter Saddam Husseins invasion of Kuwait. This idea, that if there was no Israel, Palestine conflict, there would have been no 9//11, is hogwash. Here OBL puts it in black and white. The main reason for OBL jihad was the 91 Gulf war, and Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, pure and simple. So to say Saddam Hussein had no relation to 9/11, is like saying alcohol doesn't have a relationship to accidents. Yes, alcohol doesn't drive your car, but it does affect how you drive. Saddam Hussein didn't plan 9/11, but he was the main instigation behind OBL's jihad. The second reason stated by OBL.
Second, despite the great devastation inflicted on the Iraqi people by the crusader-Zionist alliance, and despite the huge number of those killed, which has exceeded 1 million... despite all this, the Americans are once against trying to repeat the horrific massacres, as though they are not content with the protracted blockade imposed after the ferocious war or the fragmentation and devastation.
Once again, the second reason, given by OBL, for his declaring war on the US; had nothing to do with Israel-Palestine, but rather the sanctions imposed by the UN, and the resulting starvation, claimed by Saddam, and Ramsey Clark. In fact, we know today, that Saddam was siphoning off money through the UN Oil for Food Scandal, and using the money to buy influence, build his palaces, and buy arms. In other words, the starvation, wasn't caused by the sanctions, but rather the starvation was caused by Saddam through his theft of the money. And the only reason for the sanctions, in the first place, was Saddams refusal to comply with the armistance, and get rid of, and have the UN certify, his WMD, his WMD infrastructure were destroyed. How can you possibly say Saddam had no relationship to 9/11, when once again; according to OBL's, second reason given in his declaration of war,Saddam was the main instigator, of OBL's hatred toward the US.
Third, if the Americans' aims behind these wars are religious and economic, the aim is also to serve the Jews' petty state and divert attention from its occupation of Jerusalem and murder of Muslims there. The best proof of this is their eagerness to destroy Iraq, the strongest neighboring Arab state, and their endeavor to fragment all the states of the region such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Sudan into paper statelets and through their disunion and weakness to guarantee Israel's survival and the continuation of the brutal crusade occupation of the Peninsula.
Finally, here OBL gets to the Israel Palestine conflict. However, in the second sentence, you will note, OBL once again starts talking about Iraq, and the countries who supported the Gulf alliance, and how the US manipulated them.
For you to say Saddam had no relationship to 9/11 is preposterous. You can say, Saddam had no direct involvement in the planning, but you can't deny that Saddam was a big part of the reasons given by OBL for his jihad. Secondly, OBL speech points out the fallacy of the left, that the sanctions were an effective way to control Saddam. Those sanctions may have kept Saddam from obtaining WMD, however they also increased the hatred of the US in the middle east, such that they were a bigger driving force in the anti US zeal in the area, than the Israel-Palestine conflict was. To get rid of the driving force for the anti Us zeal, the sanctions, we needed to get rid of Saddam.
