Combjelly Re...The statistics for teen pregnancies are interesting. to 113 per 1,000 in Nevada and 128 per 1,000 in the District of Columbia (Table 2). The highest state adolescent pregnancy rates after Nevada’s were in Arizona, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas. Except for DC, all these states are red. Contrast that to Vermont, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Maine had the lowest rates after North Dakota’s. You seem to have ignored the differences in pregnancy rates between the races. All of the red states, you mentioned, are in the south or west, which have a higher proportions of blacks, or Hispanics, or Indian heritage. North and South Dakota, also are red, however they had lower pregnancy rates than all of your blue states. They also have lower proportions of minorities, than the blue states . In addition, you seem to have ignored the simple fact that birth control is more accessible, more affordable, and more accepted, in the richer, more liberal, northeast, and pacific coast states.
