"For the Lord God is a sun and shield" (Psalms 84:11) therefore satan wants to be a sun and a shield. but God will not allow satan to be the light of the world (i.e. the sun). satan can transform himself into an angle of light however. and we know that angels are represented by stars in the bible. Christ is called the angel of the Lord. lucifer is an angel. Christ is called the daystar, or the bright and morning star, well lucifer is a star as well. just remember that St. Paul said that "one star differeth from another star in glory." so our Lord is a sun (which is the most glorious star) and a shield, therefore the wicked one wants to be a star and a shield as well. >> How comfortable that satan will make his children protecting them from harm and loss of prosperity or provision in that comforts of the world will be numerous and the pleasures of life will be secure. << you're exactly right. this is why our Lord said, "Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it." satan will give you a shield to save your life on earth for a time, but in the process you will lose your soul for eternity. if we refuse the shield of saul we may lose our life on earth, but we shall gain life everlasting in the age to come. --Cyprian
