Bob Jones: "Liberals despise Jesus Christ". That is what Jones said in an open letter to Bush. That is the kind of thinking we are up against.

Rarebird,

Good to hear from you. It has been a long time since we 'chatted'.

<<The distinction between the American public and President Bush and what he is doing will be erased. >>

Good point.

Rarebird, I am on the same wavelength as you with regard to Bush, America, the stock market, gold and the rest of the world.

In the runup to the election, I was thinking very seriously of converting my holdings in my RRSP (the Canadian equivalent of the American IRA) to cash before the market bear begins to chomp at it.

BTW, many people are concerned that a falling US dollar might cause Japan, Taiwan and China to cease financing US debt because their current holdings in US Treasury Bonds (combined total of about a trillion) are dwindling in value. Worse: they might even want to cash out. To be sure, this will send the market into a tailspin and then some, eh?

However, I believe that this impending scenario is rendered less likely by the fact that, of the three countries, China's currency is pegged to the US dollar which means that a falling greenback makes the Yuan cheaper and this will certainly help China's exports. And so China will be a holdout thereby making Japan and Taiwan less likely to cash out. Does this sound reasonable? Or am I missing something here?

To be sure, many of the Americans that voted for Bush haven't got the foggiest notions about the dire consequences that await them. To be sure, many of them that were ringing bells on elections night are now wringing their hands. SAD!
.

I'm looking at new all time highs for the Price of Gold in 3- 31/2 years.

Rarebird, that's pretty precise. do you have a target for PoG at the end of each of the next three years?
