Might have something to do with the fact that the "real" people in their ads all have southern accents.

We just had a CNBC two hour special that was a laundry list of their sins. Frontline has one coming out. Now the NYT has this one.

Wal-mart needs to get Sam Walton's biography out in circulation, like the History channel biopic on Wal-mart. I think people tend to be more sympathetic to an organization if they associate it with the pulled-up-by-own-bootstraps founder. It "personalizes" the business.

They should buy the airtime.

Re: WalMart, forgot to mention, they have the Salvation Army ringers set up inside the entrance as of this weekend. I haven't been a regular at WalMart so I don't know if they do this every year, but I thought it was nice, considering that Target just announced that they won't allow the Salvation Army to collect in front of Targets anymore.

Planning on making a trip to a SuperTarget in Fredericksburg this evening, that's one that has a grocery store. We're going to be out that way anyway, and you've stimulated my curiosity to do some comparison pricing.

I figure if everybody is attacking them, they must be doing something right. Not that it takes much to stimulate me to shop. ;^)
