I don't care what anyone gets up to as long as they don't touch me.

The big myth is to associate gay with being passive and nurturing when in fact there is just as much violence in gay relationships as there is in hetero ones.

Sidney, I agree with you that the gay community seeks approval, but have you tried to imagine how you would feel if you were gay? If as you grew up, you just gradually (or suddenly) realized that you weren't attracted to women, but to men? And everywhere around you, most people were disgusted by that, and you were labeled a pervert and a sinner, but you really were just a person who wanted a happy life, and preferably a companion to go through that life with?

As far as the famous-people-who-are/were-homosexual argument goes, it seems like about 3% of the male population, and 2% of the female population, is gay. It is kind of hard to come to those figures because, looking on the Internet, there is a lot of debate about it. But if you took that percentage, and considered that is is probably stable throughout world history, that makes for a HUGE number of homosexuals. Of course, some of those would be famous just doing the math. Also, because in some cultures and during some periods of time homosexuals have been persecuted, and people who are persecuted may lean particularly towards the arts to find some expression for their feelings, and also because homosexual men may just be attracted towards artistic endeavors since they favor the seemingly feminine and creative, it is not surprising that "some famous people of the past were gay", especially artists and writers. But don't forget some famous military leaders as well!
