I was just on the phone with someone who said that they'd seen the movie in Dolby Sound, and it was the only movie he thought in which it really made a difference to see it in the theater instead of on TV. He said that you could feel the ship creaking.

He's read all the books. Made the same comment you did about character development, but since movies can't do what books do in that regard, I didn't care.

He also commenting that the movie was about "how things work."

I thought that was interesting.
