No it wasn't. It was my quote and not really a thesis, just something to ponder.

Does anyone know of a real good longterm site for farm product prices, like wheat, cattle, soybeans, etc? I think it is an interesting area to look into.

I have self motivating interests.

If I go back and look at the longterm wheat contracts it might be my guess that they are putting in one hell of a big bottom. I dunno for sure, not my area to say the least.

Maybe Coxe will expound more on it, in the future.

For personal reasons more than anything else I have wondered what the hell the price of farm land is going to do, in the future. I just talked to my father. He says they have went up over the last few years in the area where I grew up, but not by any extreme amount. Only a little. I don't think the farmers are yet making any huge profits. Price of product does not yet compensate for the increase in other costs, and the productivity gains are not enough to make up the difference.

But I think it possible for future price increases in product to much more than make up for increased cost of production. Yankee farming is very efficient, maybe a tad too efficient. Many farmers imo have spent more than they should have on fancy new equipment, over the last several years. Gotta keep up with the neighbors.
