Finally, consider the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth story

Give credit where credit is due. The MSM, even if they couldn't drag Kerry over the finish line, even if Memogate and al Qaqaa didn't work as envisioned, still did Kerry yeoman service. All you have to consider is the stories they didn't cover.

If MSM had approached the swiftvet story neutrally, with investigative interest, pretty soon the questions we are all familiar with would have been on the front pages - "why does your Silver Star have three citations, Senator?" "how did your Silver Star get a Combat "V" added to it, Senator?", "why does your discharge date from 1978, Senator?" and most of all, "Hey, why won't you release your military records, Senator?"

Just imagine the Kerry campaign trying to cope with a media feeding frenzy based on those questions. He would have lost in a landslide. But the stories never ran.
