No, they don't. Pension funds are run by the oldest, stoggiest, "most prudent men" [as in prudent man rule] rules there are. It just so happens that if something is listed on the NYSE it can be construed as a "prudent" purchase... if they have to buy a future or hoard it in the head office, it isn't. It makes no sense... it's an anacronism... but very real.
