The elite can be demonized because they are "elite", or because of opinions which some of the elite have which a lot of the rest of the country do not share, or because of opinions they are perceived to hold but don't generally actually hold. The 1st of the 3 is most like the "self destructive culture that eschews 'acting white'". The 3rd is simply a misunderstanding. But what's your take on the 2nd? Steve Rogers and you both seem to ignore the possibility that the resentment of, or disagreement with, "the elite", might be about their opinions, rather than a resentment of their status, or more general negative thoughts about education. Political opinions have some correlation with education levels. The very uneducated and the very educated both tend to be more liberal in their voting patterns than those that have received a moderate level of formal education.

It's interesting that a group of people who recognize the idiocy of that aspect of the black culture takes the same tack itself apparently without irony.

It’s a common syndrome these days. In a similar vein, we see the new age airheads and the born again loonies denouncing each other, without the slightest recognition that the two phenomena are only marginally different: either way, you have a regression into superstition.
