Mark Warner won, in my opinion, because the Religious Right wing of the Virginia Republican party got greedy, and ran a ding-a-ling as their candidate.

To give you an idea of how crappy the Republican candidate (Mark Earley) was, I sat the election out, and was relieved when Warner won.

Warner's a vacuous nobody but Virginia is an easy state to run, and that makes him look good.

Now the Virginia politician who looks like a President to me is George Allen, former member of the House of Delegates, former Congressman, former governor, and current Senator. He's extremely charismatic.
