"capitalism³ - a pseudo-religion of greed, characterized by pursuit of self-interest, often associated with the claim that each individual, by advancing his own self-interest, ultimately advances the good of society"

That is not a reputable definition of capitalism. It is pointless to use a false definition of Capitalism as a proxy for some argument you may have against consumerism--or whatever your bug is. I could discuss issues of personal value with you but if you are using "Capitalism" as a word to mean a "greedy religion"...or whatever other open-ended and disconnected ad hoc ideological fabrications might strike your fancy, moment to moment...then I can hardly discuss Capitalism with you in any intelligible manner under those conditions.

Capitalism is firstly about individuals having the Right to property and thus the rights to the means of production: i.e. axes, combines, and so forth. Secondly, it is about the Right to trade that production with others free of coercion, force, or interference.

It is not about the moral philosophy or individual values of a person. Indeed, N. American culture is notable for being both Christian and Capitalistic. Furthermore, there are thousands of religions represented in America (many of them Christian-type sects and variants), and they conduct their affairs and their religious competition under the political and ideological aegis of a Capitalistic society. Whether or not they crave oral sex, Beemers, or selling pencil drawings in seedy bars for fair value has nothing to do with Capitalism--it has to do with their choice of value and meaning in life.

And the Right to property and the Right to trade property has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with whether one enjoys fish or pheasant.
