It is unfortunate that a nation's knowledge can be so detached from its technological advancement...almost as unfortunate as how a person's academic degree has little relation to his wisdom or morality. This administration's push to create mini-nukes with the purpose of tactical usage and "bunker busters" only makes the usage of nuclear weapons around the world more likely.

Did you watch Michael Scheuer (former head of CIA's bin Laden group) on 60 Minutes last Sunday? In his words, and I paraphrase:

"It is a mistake to assume just because there has not been an attack on US over the past 3 years, the enemy is incapable of doing so. Bin Laden is remarkably eager to tell us what he is going to do and why he is going to do it. But he does it on his own timetable and does not give in to external pressures. One of the criticisms of bin Laden in the Muslim world has been that he did not give enough notice to US before 9/11. However, he has now done so and in the May of 2003 [after invasion of Iraq] he received a fatwa [a religious permission] to specifically use nuclear weapons against the US. It is a near inevitability that he will do so."
