perhaps some muslims don't speak out because they are afraid to. perhaps islam wasn't such a great religion. perhaps many muslims wish to gain from the actions of the terrorists. perhaps the terrorists in killing a relatively small number of people think they will win- as the west will quit and run. perhaps the media considers criticizing killing of an unarmed muslim in a mosque by an american soldier, harassment of iraqi prisoners by americans, and collateral damage of civilians by americans and israelis better stories than criticism of acts by muslim suicide bombers and terrorists. if arabs are upset for any reason, the media does not see it as its function to tell the arabs not to riot, pillage, rape, and kill innocents. but, the media does see its function as criticizing any action taken by u s a or israel (other than appeasement)to stop the arabs from acting thus.
