On the contrary. I am well versed not only in Koran, but also the Islamic laws and Islamic history. Without exaggeration, I know Islam better than 90+% of Muslims.

Here is the short version. Koran is an ink blot test; you can read into it whatever you want. For example, Koran states "lA ikrAh-a fi deen" which roughly translates to "there is no obligation to practice the religion". This translation does not do justice, though. The word "ikrah" is a lot milder than "obligation" it means something that you would do but not whole heartedly. In other words, Koran says "you don't have to practice the religion if your whole heart is not into it". There are other passages that tell the "infidels" to practice their ways in peace and to let the Muslims practice their religion in peace. Furthermore, when Mohammed defeated the infidels and took over Mecca, he forgave everyone and prevented all bloodshed, even of those who had killed his own relatives. Every Muslim starts reading each passage of Koran with "In the name of the Merciful and Compassionate God".

...then of course, there are the other passages, so people like you are free to pick and choose their version of Islam. However, most Islamic scholars believe a through study of the life of Mohammed along with the historical events surrounding the revelation of a particular verse is a must for proper interpretation of Koran.

Sun (oops, I think you still have much to read) Tzu
