If christians or jews inhabited countries ruled by despots who deny liberty, economic progress and social justice, they too might be induced to do what some muslims in these countries do. Look how the landholders in the South created a racist lower class to propagate slavery. Look at how Hitler freed the germans from guilt and self doubt after WW1 and the economic disaster by scapegoating Jews. Terrorism is not new--it was used against Jews in Germany and Blacks in the south. I remember the Birmingham church bombings where the four little girls were killed. Killers felt no remorse, delighted in the deaths of what they considered to be subhumans just as Germans did and just as extreme jihadists do today. This is one of the oldest and most constant human failings. Yes the West, colonial powers, Israel etc have something to do with whats going on in Muslim lands but scapegoating is a far different animal. Mike

LOL! Yes, Ironically I would be in worse situation than the neocons...not to worry though, I have found a legal loophole for myself :) BTW, there is historical precedence for what can happen when a Christian land is confescated by a Khaliphate. When the Byzantine governor soon surrendered on the basis of the following rather generous terms offered by Khalid the Muslim commander. Khalid's terms were as follows:

"In the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful. This is what Khalid ibn-al-Walid would grant to the inhabitants of Damascus if he enters therein: he promises to give them security for their lives, property and churches. Their city wall shall not be demolished, neither shall any Moslem be quartered in their houses. Thereunto we give to them the pact of Allah and the protection of His Prophet, the caliphs and the believers. So long as they pay the poll tax, nothing but good shall befall them."

Khalid kept his word. So, some fifteen years after the taking of Damascus, we find the great church at Damascus being used both by Christians and by Muslims at the same time.
