Advocate for India - maybe part of a plan to get negotiation leverage with other Asian countries... or...a carrot to get Kashmir settled. India-Pakistan almost had a nuclear war over K. It provides a rationale for Indian internal politics - "if we don't resolve Kashmir, we will not catch up with China and get rich..." ****** I like this line - "There is some speculation that if present trends continue, the Indian economy might surpass that of China in ten years" Yeah....if most people in coastal China take up surfing full time and watch LOTS of daytime television instead of working... Oh, also adopt California public school curiculums and standards..
