Dave, I follow your logic. However, your choice potentially means that you'd pick me on the next ticket simply because I'm domestically born, precisely because a better qualified candidate couldn't be allowed into the available pool. Let me be the first to tell ya that I'd be the President of everybody's worst nightmare. I'd simultaneously allow gay marriage and nuke Tehran on Inauguration Day, then have a sandwich for lunch.

And ... you're right, the enemy has a great deal of patience and a great deal of time. How do you know that * I, I, I * am not the sleeper, parents planted here purposely so I'd have the cachet of being domestically born? Why would you elect me ahead of someone who has demonstrated that they can run a country? (For all intents and purposes, given it's size, diversity, economic scale, and demographics California could be considered a "country" in its own right). Voting for me, whilst appreciated, could be devastating. Just because I was born here doesn't make me a good choice.

"One thing I remember from that book, and I read it back in 1966, was that the enemy has a great deal of patience and a great deal of time in which to exercise it.
The other thing I remember is that the enemy WILL exercise its patience and unleash the sleeper when the time is right."
