I agree, parental involvement in critical

my school district has a graduation rate of 98.95% - the high schools are very college entrance oriented, hence the expectation is that high schoolers should do 3 to 4 hours of homework a night - I think it's too much - I prefer a better rounded graduate with people skills, involvement in school extracurricular activities, hands on work/study programs

our state was awarded the Goldman Sachs Foundation Prize -

among five recipients of The Goldman Sachs Foundation Prizes for Excellence in International Education announced during the States Institute on International Education in the Schools in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes the state’s efforts to include global knowledge and skills in all aspects of teaching and learning.

“Education about the world, its diverse peoples, languages, and cultures extends beyond social studies and world language classrooms,” said State the Superintendent. “In our state, we know that students and teachers need to travel abroad, study world languages, learn skills to work with those from other backgrounds and cultures, and to have hands-on experiences with the complex issues that cross geographical borders.”
