Most of the evidence which the world, and certainly Congress and the American people, were treated to was cherry picked by the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans. Its no surprise that most people came to certain conclusions. Most people, for example, were not told before the war that a key piece of evidence which Bush et al used to justify the war - to scare people and Congress into submission - was totally debunked, according to the director of the DOE Oak Ridge laboratories, Dr. Wood. Qualifications of the people who discredited the administration's pet justification? The very people who build uranium centrifuges for the US. The Office of Special Plans, OSP, was set up by Cheney and Rumsfeld, specifically to cut the CIA and the Defense Department's own intelligence service DIA, out of the loop. The conclusions that came out of OSP were controversial before the war was called. In particular you may remember the "nuclear smoking gun" which Cheney and Rice built up over time in talk shows, and which Bush used dramatically "we will not wait for evidence which may come in the form of a Mushroom Cloud" in the State of the Union address. That smoking gun? Totally debunked by the very experts whose job it is to assess these issues. US experts. Just one small sample of the evidence which was held back by the Office of Special Plans, because evidence to the contrary would get in the way of the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz cabal to promote their cherry picked justifications for going to war. Whether you believe it or not is immaterial to me. Bush et al hoodwinked the public in sufficient numbers to win the election. But the truth will one day come out. With any luck, Congressional inquiries and trials will deliver the penalty they deserve.
