Remember the domino theory from the NeoCons? Why would they stop at just Iraq?

They are such ideologues that rational, coherent thought processes, laws, customs, international considerations, practicality, economics, etc. don't figure into their thinking. They want something, they do it and then they blame others when things go awry.

They run outside of the law and they don't care. One reason they don't add more troops to Iraq or Afghanistan is that they want them for elsewhere. They are still trying to call up people in their 40s and 50s so there's no reason they won't try to reup those who have just served their time in Iraq.

They'll just make new laws to make it so. Plus, there's the draft both selective (specific skills) and general (everyone but their kids.)

I haven't heard about new Russians nukes but the mobile nukes were tested over a year ago by Putin. Since Shrubbery is working on bringing back SDI (militarizing space) and on developing suitcase nukes, the 50/50 chance of the humane species surviving 50 years seems right on track.

Re: I don't anticipate Bush going against Iran. Where in the heck would he get the troops?

Air Force and Navy pilots are readily available for Iran duty, sir. And don't forget that the sea-based button pushers who arm, aim and fire cruise missiles are a tad underutilized at this juncture.

Hell, son, we may go whack Iran just to keep in practice and to test the latest toys from the manufacturers. Who really, really liked the fact that George Bush doubled their procurement contracts after we expended a heck of a lot of ordnance in Iraq. Now what do you think ol' sly George was tinkin' when he doubled down? That we'd hold all the new fireworks in inventory? Yeah, right.
