I am sure that the Generosity Index is far from perfect. But nevertheless, it is what it is. For whatever reason, people in Mississippi (top state in rank) give more of their income, as a percentage of income, to charity than people in New Hampshire (bottom state in rank). The people who developed the index were not trying to make Red Staters look good, but by an interesting coincidence it turns out that Red States score higher, on average, than Blue States.
